Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn – Clarification on Thaumaturge Spells Tooltips

Fernehalwes took to the forums to clarify some tool tip errors, this should help alleviate some confusion.

Greetings guys,

Several of you have chimed in stating that the EN help text for Blizzard/Fire II and III are incorrect. This doesn’t surprise me considering how many times the battle team tweaks the effects of each action in the span of even a week. Excuses aside, the EN was incorrect for these four spells, and will be fixed for phase 4 and release.

The tweak in question (straight from the master data files) ->

Blizzard II

Deals ice damage with a potency of 100 to all nearby enemies.
Additional Effect: Bind Duration: 4s
Additional Effect: Grants Umbral Ice II or removes Astral Fire
Duration: 10s

downarrow

Deals ice damage with a potency of 100 to all nearby enemies.
Additional Effect: Bind Duration: 4s
Additional Effect: Grants Umbral Ice or removes Astral Fire
Duration: 10s

Blizzard III

Deals ice damage with a potency of 220.
Additional Effect: Grants Umbral Ice III or removes Astral Fire
Duration: 10s

downarrow

Deals ice damage with a potency of 220.
Additional Effect: Grants full stack of Umbral Ice or removes Astral Fire
Duration: 10s

(The same issue was occurring with Fire II & III and will be addressed in a similar manner)

I want to thank again the posters who noticed this and brought it up here in the forums. While we have an awesome QA team, the sheer amount of text in the game and the rate at which it is constantly updated can sometimes allow for mistakes to slip through the cracks (30 days straight of 15-hour work days don’t help much, either). This is why we appreciate you guys so much for taking the time out of your busy schedules to get on the forums and let us know when something’s off kilter.

But you’re dodging the REAL issue! What of the Ras and Gas and Jas! (oh my!)

No, we’re not dodging the issue. We’re simply waiting to see what the battle team decides. LOC has little control over that and, until then, are bound by the rules of progression set in the JP. We’ll make sure to keep you updated.
